Sustainable Christmas Jumper
Christmas Jumpers has grown to become an essential part of the December Uniform. We love Christmas Jumpers in the UK! We love to buy quirky, personal Christmas Jumpers that we wear in December and on Christmas Jumper Day. But what we don't realise is that the Christmas Jumper is a dangerous contributor to the planets pollution level. And that is why Banana Moon has made the first Sustainable Christmas Jumper that you can use year on year.
Christmas Jumpers as an environmental threat
They are festive and fun. They bring joy to the office in the whole december - and who doesn't love Christmas Jumper Day!
But the Christmas Jumper is actually a big threat to the environment for multiple reasons.
Studies show that one in three adults under 35 buys a new Christmas jumper every year and that one in four Christmas Jumpers bought last year has already been thrown away or is unlikely to be worn again - and research shows that most of them have only ever be worn once. Christmas Jumpers get's thrown away every year and at least a quarter of festive jumpers bought in the lead up to Christmas are already in landfill before the New Year!
Furthermore, Environmental charity Hubbub has found that up to 95% of Christmas Jumpers are made using plastic which is hugely problematic to the environment.
How is it sustainable?
A Christmas Jumper should be for life and not just for Christmas. The Banana Moon Sustainable Christmas Jumper is made from the Stanley/Stella Iconic Crew Neck Sweatshirt. Stanley/Stella is an eco-friendly brand that pride themselves on delivering products that are responsible and ethical. The crew neck sweat is part ringspun combed cotton, making it a high quality fabric that is soft to touch and super comfy to wear. But this sweat is also an eco-friendly option thanks to the organic cotton and recycled polyester.
The print is made of a chalkboard vinyl, which means that you can write and re-write the year with chalk and use the jumper again and again year on year.
