Our Environmental Journey
We cut waste, save water, and offer eco garments. Sustainability is woven into all we do at Banana Moon.
Established in 1993, we're a family company that has grown from a lifestyle craft business to an agile, responsible and visionary personalised clothing supplier operating from a 10,000 sq. ft purpose-built facility in Yorkshire, UK.
We are so pleased to announce that Banana Moon has been B-Corp certified! This certification acknowledges our continued commitment to people and our planet and we feel extremely happy and proud to achieve B-Corp certification after years of hard work.
Banana Moon Clothing is proud to contribute to sustainability by donating defected and unsellable garments to be recycled into dog beds. Through this initiative, we give new life to unused textiles, reducing waste and supporting animal welfare. The donated clothes are transformed into comfortable, eco-friendly dog beds through a company called Bright Secure Recycling and are donated to shelters and rescue centers. This program reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility and community support, turning what would have been waste into a valuable resource for animals in need.
All items must be garments originally supplied by us.
Please wash all garments and ensure pockets are emptied
Pop them into suitably sized box (we love a well-packed parcel)

End-of-life and faulty garments are returned to Banana Moon, where they are collected and sent to a RecoDog.
The warehouse team at Bright Secure Recycling will weigh the stock immediately upon arrival.
Their team carefully separates each item by hand to ensure the appropriate recycling process is applied, minimizing waste and maximizing the amount of material recycled. Additional components, such as metal zippers and paper tags on clothing, are removed and processed separately to prevent contamination with the fabric.
The destruction typically occurs within 24-48 hours of the goods' arrival. The exact time frame depends on the volume of items that need to be processed at any given time.
Once the material has been shredded into the desired consistency, it is ready to be used as stuffing. The warehouse team takes these small, soft pieces and carefully stuffs them into the compartments of the dog bed cover.
By combining different types of shredded clothing, they aim to achieve a consistency that is neither too soft nor too firm, enhancing the overall comfort and appeal of the dog bed.
Here is a completed dog bed crafted from recycled clothing. Once finished, these beds are donated to local dog shelters, providing comfort and support to animals in need.
