31 Squadron Go 31,000 Miles : Update 2 (Mid September)

Further to our first update featuring 31 Squadron’s attempt to raise £31,000 for 3 different charities, here is the latest information as to where the guys are now at:

“We have just gone past the half way point at 9 1/2 weeks and have already raised just over £30,000, we would like to continue raising money past the £31,000 to see how high we can set the bar. We have also completed 22,000 miles and are well on course to do the mileage and more, we are averaging just over 2000 miles each week.”

This fundraising activity requires members of the squadron to run, cycle or row each mile in the gym, in their spare time during current deployment. Bearing in mind the deployment is in Afghanistan, this is an outstanding gesture and will be a truly tough test to complete the challenge. To have pretty much achieved their target already with 9,000 miles still to go is fantastic and really shows the generosity of all the donations. Of course, the effort being put in by 31 Squadron is really a fundraising effort that deserves such support. One can only imagine the physical toll of doing all that in Afghanistan as well as performing a full time job!

The text number now for people to donate to, just send “Gold62 £1″ to 70070.”

As is clear to see this really is an extraordinary feat and one which needs everyones support for the 3 charities of Help For Heroes, Epilepsy Action and Tickets for Troops. You can donate via the text number above or also visit the Just Giving page here

Banana Moon have produced the embroidered t-shirts for the squadron and also donated to the Just Giving page ourselves.
