We put a blog up a month ago, featuring 31 Squadron’s attempt to raise £31,000 for 3 different charities. This fundraising activity requires members of the squadron to run, cycle or row each mile in the gym, in their spare time during current deployment. Bearing in mind the deployment is in Afghanistan, this is an outstanding gesture and will be a truly tough test to complete the challenge. Anyway Dan Hardwick has kindly updated us on the current status of the fundraising:
“In the first three weeks we have raised £10800 for our chosen charities and we have travelled an astonishing 7500 miles towards our goal. All while working relentless 12-hour shifts in the 45 degree heat. The distance in equal to the return journey from Marham to Kandahar.
We also have a text number now for people to donate to, just send “Gold62 £1” to 70070.”
As is clear to see this really is an extraordinary feat and one which needs everyones support for the 3 charities of Help For Heroes, Epilepsy Action and Tickets for Troops. You can donate via the text number above or also visit the Just Giving page here
Banana Moon have produced the embroidered t-shirts for the squadron and also donated to the Just Giving page ourselves.
