Embroidery Production
- What is Embroidery?
Embroidery is our most popular method of personalising a garment. It is the best way of creating a long-lasting, classy, top quality and multi-colour effect. Our embroidery is produced on computerised, ultra-modern, multi-head machines run by experienced, highly skilled operators. Embroidery is ideal for a breast pocket logo (generally between 3" and 4"), for the back of the neck or for a sleeve (short sleeved garments only).
- Do you offer a free embroidery service?
Yes. There is no set up charge on 20 garments and above with the same embroidered design. Colours, sizes and types of garment can be mixed. On small orders of 10-19 garments, there is a set up charge of £25.00 + VAT. Or to avoid setups or order between 1-19 you can choose one from the range of our stock logos available to view on the website.
- Can I see a free embroidery proof?
Yes, we can send a free proof, by e-mail or post if you require. Please let us know if you would like a proof when you place your order.

No, we now give a low basic garment price, to which different personalisation methods can be introduced as ‘add ons’. Our standard embroidered logo price of £3.00 is for one "average" size breast pocket logo up to 10,000 stitches. Many of our competitors only class an ‘average’ logo as up to 5000 stitches. For very complex designs in excess of this, there may be a small surcharge per garment.
- I would like individual names embroidering as well as my logo. Is this possible?
If embroidered individual names, nicknames or initials are required, at approximately 8mm to 10mm in height, in addition to your logo design, the charges are as follows: £2.50 + VAT per garment for up to 20 characters Please remember our prices include your main embroidered logo and your company or organisation name.
- I would Like Printed Names and Numbers?
As a popular alternative to embroidered names, we can do digital printed names in numerous colours on the back of garments. Pricing for this is as follows: £2.95 + VAT per garment (Quantity discounts do apply). Numbers are charged at £2.50 + vat (up to 2 digits). If you would like transfer-printed names and numbers, please ask us for a full quote or contact us for more details or you can order these in the online basket.

- How can I find specific brands or types of clothing in your catalogue?
To find a specific brand, use the "Search by Brand" option beneath the shopping basket icon. This will bring up a list of all brands offered by our online system. From here you can choose a specific brand, such as Fruit of the Loom - clicking on the icon will bring up a list of all products that can be ordered from the site in that brand. To find types of clothing, the "Search by Product" option may be more helpful. This search sorts items into categories and subcategories. For example, if you require ladies' polo shirts, clicking on "Polo Shirts" in the Product Categories list on the left-hand side of the screen will give you a listing of all the subcategories of polo shirts on the catalogue. From here you can click on the Ladies Polo’s icon to see these options in all existing brands.
- I've found a product I like, but what colours does it come in?
Colours are shown as a separate image for each product. By clicking on different colour swatches the large image of the garment should appear. Some garments however, are shown by a colour swatch to the side of the main image. Please be aware that we have best matched the pantone colours of the garments but some colours may vary slightly from the colour swatch shown.
- How do I make a repeat order?
Our repeat ordering system is now available. To place a repeat order, browse to the product you would like to buy. Select your personalisation type. If the item is able to be repeat ordered, you will see a tick box labelled "tick this box to waive setup fees on repeat designs." Tick this box. On the following page, the "Artwork File Name" will be pre-filled with "My Artwork is On File." You can either specify the artwork you would like to use in this file name box or enter it in the Organisation Name / Special Instructions box. Please be aware that if you tick the Repeat Designs box and have not ordered that design from Banana Moon Workshop before, we will contact you to arrange payment of the appropriate setup fee.
Ordering online
- How do I start an order?
Placing an order for customised clothing from Banana Moon is quite simple. First, browse to the product you need by using "Search by Product", "Search by Brand" or typing the product stock code into the Search box in the upper right corner. Enter an approximate number of what you need - make sure that you've ordered at least one item for every colour/size/name combination you require (though if you don't, it's not a problem - you can always browse back to the product and put more items in your basket).
- I've found the product I want. Now what?
Choose your customisation options and location. Locations may vary depending on the customisation type you choose. If you would like embroidered names on your items, select an Individual Name option - the price of these modifications will automatically be added to your basket. If you want some of one garment with names and some of the same garment without names, please order the named garments separately to prevent being charged the embroidered-name price on all items. Click "Add to Order".
- I have added my product to an order - but now I have more options. What do I do now?
When you clicked 'Add to Order' it took you to the page where you can select colours and sizes from the drop-down lists. Remember to specify the number of each size/colour combination you choose - and leave unneeded boxes blank. If you chose an Individual Name option, place a tick in the box next to the appropriate item and type in your chosen name. Click Calculate to see the price of the items with their options (excluding VAT). If you would like to use a stock logo, click the link in the lower left to browse through our stock logos collection - just click on the image you would like, then click "Add to Order" - this will fill in the stock logo number for you. You can also upload the artwork you would like to have embroidered here - just click "Select" then use the pop-up window's Browse button to find the image on your own computer. Once that is complete, click "Add to Order" to place your choices into the basket.
- Alright, I have my order in the basket. Now what?
From the basket, you can continue shopping by using the category or brand links in the left menu - or you can check out by clicking the "Check out" button. Confirm your basket's choices are correct after reading the terms and conditions - please note that the repeat ordering functions of the site are under construction - please e-mail us your order using the e-mail link on that page. Fill in your delivery details, with as complete an address as possible (particularly with overseas/Forces orders). When you submit your delivery details, you will usually be able to choose your method of payment (there are exceptions to this, however) and fill in the payment details if you are using debit or credit card payment - the payment details page is secure, and your information will be safely transmitted to Banana Moon Workshop. As soon as you have authorised the payment (or selected "Pay by Cheque" or "Quotation only"), you should receive an e-mail confirming your order - if you have any questions, contact sales@bananamoon.co.uk
- I wasn't asked what payment option I would like. What happened?
There are some cases in which an order will not be processed using the secure online ordering system - these will be submitted as a request for a quotation to Banana Moon Workshop. At this time, we can only provide quotations on orders shipping outside the UK and major European countries - we will contact you with details of delivery costs. BFPO orders are also submitted as quotation requests at this time, so that we can supply you with a quotation that takes into account delivery, VAT zero rating and Forces discounts. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Payment & Refunds
- How much is VAT? Do your prices include the VAT?
The current rate of VAT is 17.5%. The prices do not include VAT, but it is itemised in the shopping basket. Children's clothing, up to age 13, is not liable for VAT. BFPO addresses and addresses outside the UK are zero rated (VAT exemption certificates may be required.)
- When do you require payment?
Payment is required with the order, please - by cheque, debit or credit cards, or BACS transfer. Please note that credit card payments are subject to a 2.5% admin charge. If ordering for a group of people, it is a good idea for the organiser to obtain payment from individuals at the time of ordering.
- What is your refund policy?
Any error that is our fault will be corrected. In our many years of trading we have never been involved in a legal dispute or had to give a complete refund because the quality was sub-standard. We must reiterate that customer errors - i.e. incorrect spellings, incorrect names, wrong sizes ordered - will not be replaced free of charge.
Sample Requests
- How can I request a plain sample garment?
If you require a sample garment to check colour, fit or quality, we are happy to provide plain items for their base garment cost, and shipping will be waived for these items. We do ask that you can provide us with credit or debit card details, with which we will only take payment if the garment is not returned within the 30 days or if you have requested to buy the sample item. Please use our online enquiry form and tell us what garment style you require, your preferred colour and size. We will contact you to confirm your request and arrange payment on the garments.
- Can I return a sample garment?
Sample garments returned within 30 days will be credited back to you - whether or not you place an order with Banana Moon. Return postage will be payable on these items.
Printing & Production
- What printing methods do you use?
We use a variety of different printing methods based on the type of order you have placed. For Individual printed names or numbers we would use digital transfer printing. For large quantity printing orders or those which require the same large or small print on each garment we would use the ink based screen printing. It is charged by the number of colours in the design. Normally, we print in one colour, which is the most economical. For complex multi-colour logos and small quantity print jobs we would use direct-to-garment printing.
- Is the printing included in the price?
No, as with embroidery printing options are ‘added on’ to our base price. Amounts of colours and also quantity of garments to be printed will affect price.
- Is there a set-up charge or minimum order?
There is no minimum order for printed or embroidered garments but the type of printing method used may vary depending on quantity ordered.
- What is the minimum repeat order for screen-printed garments?
We ask for a minimum of 10 garments for screen printing , please, however it isn’t necessary for a minimum order with vinyl transfer printing or direct-to-garment.
- Can I order one printed garment?
Yes it is now possible to order 1 garment with a print on. This can either be ordered in the online basket or through contacting us for details.
- How can I obtain a price for a multi-colour print?
Please contact us with the quantity and type of garment, and if possible a copy of your artwork. We will prepare a full quotation for you and reply as soon as possible. You can now use our online ordering system to order a multi-colour print. Examples of these are shown on the website.
